Indiana State Fair

The 2022 Indiana State Fair theme was the year of the automobile, and it was very much “Fun at the Speed of Summer.”

This theme was a tough one to create a logo for, at CVR we had designed everything from car window views, to gilded emblems, and finally landed on this design I created with a somewhat symmetrical design with an older automobile with, yes, corncobs. Depending on the application, we did have to create several versions of the logo: some with their tagline, some with a tagline and sponsor, and some where we decided to drop everything and let the graphic live next to the content we were trying to display.

I helped churn out all the collateral and work with the State Fair team to get whatever creative they needed for advertising, print and digital.

We also proposed several car-themed ideas for tv commercials before getting into filming. I was happy to take our ideas on paper and create some digital illustrations to show an example of how the scenes for each would play out.

The first one shows a country road scene where we have a caravan/parade of tractors and different styles of cars, old and new, driving along.

The second one, one of my favorites, shows a guy acting as a car salesman touting how great the Indiana State Fair is!

The third, would have been a drive in scene with a lot full of cars, old and new, watching a advertisement for the fair on screen. Along the edges would be your favorite fair food vendors instead of your standard drive in concessions.

The fourth one, which is what we ended up filming and producing, was a truck driving down a country road, pulling a trailer full of all the animals you love to see at the fair.

The fifth is another one of my favorites out of this set. We wanted to make the ad seem like a racing pit stop, so in one scene we could have had people running around a horse acting like they were quickly changing a horseshoe out to play along with the car theme for the year.
