Coffee & Collab Illustration
AIGA Indianapolis (AIGA Indy) holds a free Coffee & Collab event once every other month at local coffee shops around Indianapolis. The point of this event is to gather creatives together to socialize, drink coffee, and work on their current projects. (And, explore the community in which we live!)
I was asked to come up with an alternate illustration for our event that featured a female coffee instead of a male. That was the only requirement I was asked to fulfill – illustration style, color, etc was up to me to decide. However, I wanted to make sure I didn’t stray too far from the original style because I wanted it to be recognizable as a Coffee & Collab event.
As far as the illustration goes, I mimicked the angle of the original with a raised, aerial view of the mug, simplified features, and used a four-color palette. Because the female mug was a softer version of the male mug, I switched up the colors from bright salmon, dark red, brown, and cream to a sky blue, dark blue, light brown, and a dark cream.
Not only did I work on the illustration for Coffee & Collab, but I also write copy and post for AIGA Indy‘s social media platforms:
“Good morning #indianapolis! It is almost time to collaborate, make, and caffeinate. Coffee & Collab starts at 8AM!”
“On Wednesdays, we drink coffee. Our next Coffee & Collab event is next Wednesday, October 16 at @thegardentable Join us: Link in bio.”
